Leadership Team

In his role as CEO, Matan is responsible for all aspects of Unlimited Realities operational and strategic performance. He brings extensive leadership experience to the company having worked in both management consulting and senior management roles within the software industry.

Matan’s expertise includes financial and project management, software engineering and off-shore business development. He holds a Bachelor of Information Science majoring in Computer Science and Economics from Massey University (Auckland).

In his role as Chief Technology Officer David is responsible for product architecture and technology strategy. Since founding Unlimited Realities in the late 1990′s David has designed and built a wide range of advanced software solutions.

David’s expertise includes advanced computer graphics, machine vision, software design and human computer interaction. He holds a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Computer Systems Engineering from Massey University.

In his role as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Ben leads the company in marketing, business development and strategy. He has over 15 years’ experience in product management, software engineering and marketing having held senior roles in both North America and New Zealand.

Ben’s expertise includes strategy development, product development and M&A. Ben holds a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Product Development from Massey University.

In his role as Chief Operating Officer Russell is responsible for financial management, corporate governance and operational performance. He has been with Unlimited Realities since the start and continues to guide the business management of the company.

Russell’s expertise includes financial management, human resources and strategic planning. Russell holds a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Product Development from Massey University.

In his role as Director of Sales and Marketing James is responsible for all customer and partner relationships and leads the brand development and marketing of both Unlimited Realities and Fingertapps.

James has sales and marketing experience in both corporate business and technology start-ups. Beginning his career at Toyota in marketing planning, brand development, and sales strategy and planning, he then chose to match his experience in large corporates with his passion for technology start-ups. James’s expertise includes sales growth strategy, customer acquisition, marketing strategy, and organisational vision and leadership.

As Creative Director Karyn oversees the look and feel of the user interfaces of all applications. With the diverse array of software applications being produced by the company, she ensures that the user experience delivered is of a consistently high standard across the board.

Having more than 20 years’ experience working in the UK and New Zealand as a senior designer and art director, Karyn’s portfolio showcases the synergy of outstanding interface design with the latest in interactive technologies, along with a number of prestigious design awards including: AIMIA Australian Awards, W3 International Academy of Visual Arts, Best Design, New York Festivals and Axis.

Karyn specialises in interactive media technology and animation and holds a Diploma in Visual Communications Design.

As a senior producer Jim’s role involves co-ordinating product development activities across all departments. Using his depth of production experience in the video game industry, he manages the timely and efficient delivery of products to the market.

In his 18 years of experience producing award-winning games and animations for both independent studios and prominent film studio subsidiaries (MGM Interactive and Disney Interactive) in the US, Jim has managed large inter-disciplinary teams from conceptualisation through to production.

Jim specialises in interactive and animated media design and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from California Institute of the Arts and a Master of Arts from Stanford University.

Sam brings more than 25 years senior management and governance experience to his role as Chairman of the Board. Sam is well known as the past Chief Executive Officer of Kiwibank Ltd where he successfully led it from idea to a significant market position and profitability over a 10 year period.

Sam has had a 25 year career in management in banking and financial services. General management roles have included strategy, marketing and business development in both New Zealand and Australia. Sam is active in governance and is a director of a range of commercial and not-for-profit organisations. Sam is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and holds a Bachelor of Science (Physics) and a Master of Science (Resource Management).

For over three decades Gowan operated in the information technology industry for IBM. This culminated in his seven year appointment as the New Zealand IBM Chief Executive Officer and Chairman from 1991-1998. In this period he oversaw the integration of IBM New Zealand into a worldwide management system.

He was Chief Executive for the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology for four years from 2000. From May 2005, he was appointed as an Associate Commissioner for the Commerce Commission for a period of three years and was reappointment for a further four year term in 2008. Gowan is the immediate past-Chairman of Unlimited Realities and holds directorships of a number of other start-up technology companies.
